Tupe regulations

We take the hassle away from all TUPE regulation situations (The Transfer of Undertakings/Protection of Employment) by contacting directly the previous cleaning company to gather all the relevant information.

However, under these regulations we often have to take on unsatisfactory cleaning staff when we start a new cleaning contract. With good training, constant encouragement and motivational supervision we have regularly turned these cleaners into valuable and responsible cleaning staff.

In other cases, the cleaners who are unwilling to step up their standards, may leave.


Before we start

In the lead up to taking over a new cleaning contract we get to know the premises, the particular cleaning issues that are important and if possible, the existing cleaning staff.

We ensure we understand the access, keys and security issues, plus any other details to ensure a smooth handover.

Training

Our staff will undergo a internal training programme, inc. COSHH training, cleaning methods, use of chemicals and equipment and will receive on-going traiing from managers / supervisors throughout the year inc. updating of Health & Safety legislation.

Cleaners are given specific tasks on site rather than all duties within an area. In this way, each cleaner specialises in certain duties (i.e. toilet cleaning) which aid the training process.

All staff are employed by Calabash and we do not use temporary staff.


Communication

Unusually in our business, our management are contactable at all times and can therefore deal with issues at very short notice.

Our managers become quickly familiar to our clients because they visit regularly while the cleaning is in operation and keep clients up to date with any issues / duties that help keep the premises operating smoothly.

Our proactive supervision of the cleaners and regular contact with our clients are to ensure that they understand that Calabash are as interested in keeping their premises clean and tidy as they are themselves.

Quality control

Standards are monitored daily and any non conformances are logged by the onsite supervisor / area manager. The non-conformances will be addressed by the on site supervisor and inspected by the area manager to ensure they are rectified. Furthermore, the senior area manager will check / monitor these forms on a weekly basis.

COSHH forms and Health & Safety documentation is included.


Accreditations

Having achieved the ISO9001 & ISO14001 accreditations, and being awarded with the Safe Contractor Scheme, we meet all Health & Safety and Environmental Standards on and off site.
